At Maplecrest, we pride ourselves on creating a person-centered environment which really takes into consideration the needs, wants and dreams of our residents. This includes our activity department.
Every person has 7 dimensions of wellness: physical, intellectual, emotional, social, environmental, spiritual and vocational. Some ways Maplecrest meets each of these needs are highlighted below.
Exercise classes (chair yoga, chair dancing, chair aerobics), large muscle games such as bowling, bocce, or cornhole.
Brain games and puzzles, guest speakers, discussion and reminiscing groups.
Intergenerational programs/visits, pet visits, special events within the facility and with community involvement, monthly happy hour, monthly resident birthday party
Small group activities such as ladies’ tea, men’s clubs, “Meet and Greet” socials to welcome new residents, entertainment, movies, pet visits, and one on one visits
Gardening vegetables and flowers, outings into the community, group activities outside or in the courtyard
Church services of various religions, relaxation and reflection, yoga
Arts and crafts, cooking, program planning group, gardening groups, manicures, visits to our in-house beauty salon
Our Activity Team keeps residents active, involved and engaged and also strives to meet them where they are. As people age, their abilities change but their interests often stay the same. We understand that a little extra care and understanding is needed in creating and shaping activities for all to enjoy.
Our Team adapts activities to residents’ different interests and cognitive levels. For example, we provide traditional bingo along with picture bingo for those who find traditional bingo challenging or who are just looking to join another game! At all levels, we strive to keep our residents’ minds active, socialization up and the fun going!
